Southern Sands

Being one of the older condos in the Gulf Shores, Southern Sands has the advantage of a great location. The condominium complex is about a quarter of a mile away from the intersection of Highway 59 and 182, close to several retail locations and a public beach. There are 18 units in this staggered, three-story building that includes two-bedroom units ranging in size from 800 square feet to 900 square feet. Interiors include a modest kitchen with all the features one would expect, such as modern appliances and a decent amount of cabinet space. Each unit has a pair of bathrooms and balcony with at least partial views of the Gulf of Mexico depending on its location in the staggered complex. Southern Sands is served by an elevator and each floor has a shared washer and dryer.

Six of the units directly face the shores of the relatively low-density beach. A modest pool faces the Gulf of Mexico and there is also a barbecue area. The units are raised, allowing for covered parking that has a two-car maximum. Southern Sands is in walking distance to several restaurants and is located across the street from Island Outfitters. Other nearby attractions include The Hangout, a popular bar and restaurant at the intersection of Highway 59 and 182, which is affectionately known as the “T”. To the east of the complex is Islands Winds West and to the west is Tropic Isles.
